A lot of sites say "we never store anything." It sounds reassuring and it is almost never true. Here is the honest split for xvideochat: the room is not recorded, and a thin layer of non-video data is retained so the platform can run safely and lawfully.
WebRTC routes the stream between the two browsers — we do not write the frames to a file.
Same route. The audio packets are not persisted on our servers.
Text is buffered to the other side, not saved to a database after the room ends.
There is no field for it, and no profile to fill in.
Sign-up is optional and anonymous; these are never required for normal chat.
Standard technical logs — timestamps, error and abuse signals, coarse device/region data — needed to run the service and fight fraud.
A per-device marker that you confirmed 18+, so the gate does not interrupt you every visit. It is a flag, not your date of birth.
If you top up coins, the transaction record is kept for billing, refunds and accounting — handled via the payment processor.
When a room is reported, a short flag (timestamp, anonymized ids, reason) and the context needed to action it are retained for trust & safety.
Moderation, fraud prevention and billing cannot run on nothing. The retained items above are deliberately narrow and non-video: they let us act on a report, keep coins and refunds straight, and protect the service — without holding a recording of your session. This is targeted retention, not a blanket archive. How that enables real-time review is described on moderation, and the practical "is my session recorded?" version is in are cam chats recorded?
Retained data is kept only as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected for — operational logs and report context for safety and legal obligations, payment records for as long as accounting and tax rules require.
